It is already almost one month ago since I got the G7X mark II and wrote my review about this camera. In my first month of use I took my new camera on several trips, of which one trip to Chicago. I put up this selection of my images to serve as Canon G7X mark II sample images for you guys. Next to that I take some time to reflect on the first month of use of my new camera. Read all about it below!
The G7X mark II after one month
The question I asked myself is whether or not I gained a different perspective on the camera after some more use. I think as for image quality, and handling I still hold the same views you can read in my review, which is a good thing.
Battery life turns out to be better then my expectations. I could easily shoot an entire day as a tourist in Chicago without the need to change the battery. Furthermore, I found out a neat little trick. If you press and hold the d-pad down, the screen brightness toggles between normal set brightness and maximum brightness. This is very convenient if you are in bright sunlight, which I was as you can judge from my Canon G7X mark II sample images below. Just with one press of the button you can lighten up the display. I’ve not yet encountered situations in which the brightness of the display was not enough.
Maybe the only point that bothers me is that the camera does not fit in my jeans pockets. While walking in the city without a backpack, it would be nice if the camera was truly pocketable. Now I need to either hold it in my hand all the time, or attach the camera pouch to my belt which is not the most fashionable solution. However, when you neglect that last point it is actually a very convenient way to carry around the camera.
