Understanding Exposure, Fourth Edition Review

What is understanding exposure about?

Understanding Exposure explains the fundamentals of light, aperture, and shutter speed and how they interact with and influence one another. The book emphasizes on finding the right exposure even in tricky situations.

What’s New in the fourth edition?

The revisions in the fourth edition are mainly inspired by the  technological advances over the last years. The main additions to the book are two brand new sections on using electronic flash during exposure, and how to get creative with that. Furthermore there is also some discussion on advances in camera dynamic range, which according to the author is not all good news.

Finally, all photographs in the book are replaced by new ones, to give the book a fresh appearance.

Who is Bryan Peterson?

Bryan Peterson has been a photographer for over thirty years.  Twenty of those he has been teaching photography to others. He is also the founder of BPSOP, the Bryan Peterson school of photography. Next to that he is the author of several popular photography books. Next to Understanding Exposure, he has authored books as Understanding Shutter Speed, Beyond Portraiture: Creative People Photography, and Learning to See Creatively.
